Bone grafting

A firm base for an implant.

Bone graftingAbout 1h per visit

After a tooth is lost, the bone underneath can shrink. If there is not enough bone for an implant, a bone graft can rebuild it so the implant is held firmly.

Your dentist explains whether you need one after looking at your scans, and the plan and estimate are agreed with you before anything starts.

What is included

  • Scans to measure your bone
  • A clear plan and estimate
  • The graft under local anaesthetic
  • Review visits while it heals

Who it is for

  • A missing tooth and thin jawbone
  • Planning a dental implant

Common questions

Will I need one for an implant?+

Not always. Scans show how much bone you have, and we only recommend a graft when it is needed.

What is recovery like?+

Expect some swelling and soreness for a few days. We give you written aftercare advice and are available for questions.
